I don't think I think enough.

Writing requires exaggeration (sometimes).
Let's try something fun here and make something out of nothing.
So I was crossing the street to Festi & who comes walking towards my direction? Yes. I said hi. He said hi back.
Let's use that ^ as an example.
I present to the world: one of my many boring hobbies.
---
"I need to get out of here," she thought, as she stared blankly into her computer screen. This particular Friday night at the office was a significantly boring one despite the unexpected visitors in the afternoon.
She got up and headed out, took the elevator, and walked out of the building. A cold breeze greeted her and she smiled to herself; she was always fond of the cold. It was starting to drizzle when she stepped on the sidewalk and contemplated going back upstairs to get her umbrella. "Nah, I'll be quick anyway." She waited for the green man to appear on the pedestrian light even though the chances of her getting hit by a vehicle was an absolute zero. (She just prefers to abide by the law, is all.) When the green man finally did appear, she crossed the street and landed on the island to wait for another green man. As she waited, she went through her playlist to play a song that captivated her mood. Then, she looked up. That tall, lanky figure coming towards her direction from the other side of the street was undoubtedly recognizable. He was holding a paper bag in one hand and a gigantic plastic cup in the other. "Must be dinner." She looked back into her phone and thought about sending a hilarious SMS to one or both of the girls who knew, but decided against it. She looked up again and their eyes met from across the street as he stood at the edge of the sidewalk.
The red man on the pedestrian light indicated that she still had to wait to cross, but the other office workers surrounding her went ahead anyway, as no vehicles were coming in their direction. The lanky figure from across the street decided to make a run for it as well. He literally half-jogged and she was astonished (maybe somewhat disappointed) that he, of all people, would decide to jaywalk. But whatever; some knew him to be a bad-ass after all.
They were looking at one another as he half-jogged and she automatically put on a polite smile, as did he. She said hi and nodded curtly and he said hi back with an even bigger smile when he passed her by. He ran off as she remained standing at the edge of the island. She chose another song from her playlist, the green man finally appeared, and she walked on. --- Countless of similar stories of different people and observations of surroundings are contained in my notebooks/journals/diaries and scratch papers. I don't know why, but it's always been a "fun thing" for me. I like to write silly lists, too, just like this one. This is probably why I prefer to be a loner most of the time. =) |
