in slow motion.
I realize, that in the last twelve hours, I have watched two French films. Which makes me kind of glad that rendering a four-minute and sixteen-second video takes about two hours to do. (Altogether, I have had to render the video four times since Saturday night. HAHAHA.)
Anyway, the video for the contest at work is finally, finally, finally done. Haha! I call it labor of love. =) I don't know why, but I have so much fun editing videos. Actually, I have tons of fun being involved in such creative projects; things that are artsy-fartsy. I mean, I'm not exactly good with video editing, but it's honestly one of my favorite hobbies. It's absolutely time consuming, that's for sure, but even still. I think I was on Adobe Premiere Pro for a good eighteen hours, total. HAHAHA. As I've said, contest or not, this was fun. I can't wait to see the others' videos as well. I'm always thrilled to see the product of creative juices. I'm quite positive the others have created outstanding videos as well. =)
Well, then. I think I've listened to Gangnam Style hundreds of times. I might have to delete the track from my playlist for the time being; Psy and I need to have a short break from each other. LOL!

Earlier in the afternoon, I watched Qui m'aime me suive (en anglais: "If You Love Me, Follow Me") once again. Not exactly at the top of my list, but it's just fun to watch. It reminds me of Once (a lovely Irish film), in a way. They pretty much have the same theme: guy forms a band with a female vocalist he just met out of the blue and they try to make it big. Guy and girl can't exactly fall in love because...of reasons. Haha! I think I enjoy these things because of the "new" music in the films.

Speaking of "new" music, Xavier Dolan's films always leave me going, 'wow' with a song or two stuck in my head. I've only seen two of Dolan's works (Les amour imaginaires and, just a while ago, J'ai tué ma mère), but if you pay close attention to details, Dolan has a way of resembling Jean-Pierre Jeunet's style. (FYI: Jean-Pierre Jeunet is my absolute favorite French director. Probably because he directed my ultimate favorite film of all time, Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, but I love his other stuff just the same!)
Xavier Dolan likes:
- slow motion scenes
- (very) close up scenes that really pay attention to small details
- autumn leaves
- classical music
- party scenes, in slow motion, with flashing lights (with European artists playing in the background)
- countryside homes
- stills of random images
- same actors (like Niels Schneider -- SWOON!)
- being in the films he directs (hehe, but he's good)
This Xavier Dolan is three years younger than I am, but he's already made a name for himself. He's definitely at the top of my favorites list.
Yes, that's Xavier Dolan, director and actor, whose cinematography is just so amazing and distinct.
I'm not even going to begin talking about Christophe Honoré!!! I am in love with his works as well (major, major plus points for having my absolute love Louis Garrel in his films). LOL!
Trivia: Louis Garrel had a cameo in Xavier Dolan's Les amour imaginaires.
Okay. This is why I know very, very little about Hollywood. HAHAHA. Paris and Quebec is where it's at.

Sigh. I wish the weekend were longer. I have a loooong list of movies and films, English and French alike, waiting to be watched.
We meet again, Monday. :) |
