Money, money, money
What a selfish song. Haha! If I were a billionaire, I'd just buy a really decent laptop and do away with helping the less-privileged children. Or very, very old people who live alone. Of course this is coming from someone who has long dreamt to serve in Africa for a career. (Though now I'm expanding my borders because people in South America and Southeast Asia --closer to home-- are also in dire need of help.) Suffice to say, if I were rich, I'd make sure I'd give to those who are really in need. Sounds a lot like an answer for Miss Universe, but it's the truth. There's nothing more I want to do in life -- well nothing more aside meeting My Chosen One. But that's another blog entry in itself. So yeah. I was browsing through this old magazine and came across an article about being money-wise/becoming rich. It's true. I'm very confused, sometimes, as to why people are so dependent on credit cards. They're bad for you. Well, most of the time, they are. (The only good thing I can see about credit cards is that you can use them for when you travel abroad and you have no local currency. But yeah, that's just me.) I don't have a credit card and I'm really, really, really contemplating whether or not I should get one for when I actually do go on a trip outside the country. It's just that I don't see the point of "spending before earning" -- that's just plain stupid in my perspective. But people are so addicted to it and they're going bankrupt because of it. Why would you buy a 42-inch LCD if you haven't got the money for it? It's a waste of credit. Plus, they're only around $700 -- an amount that one would have no trouble saving up for. Or why buy a $1200 laptop (on credit, no doubt) if you can get one for $500 -- with better specs! I honestly do not understand why people can't be practical. I mean, sure, get a loan if you're buying a house or a car; at least you're making small investments. I am both disgusted and very sad for those who have no practical use for money. You buy things on credit and when payday comes, you pay all your debts and you have yet to borrow more money from others because you don't have enough money to commute with or to buy yourself lunch or dinner. That's so pathetic. I wish these people would realize the awesomeness in "earning before spending". Cash is awesome. Having a savings account is awesome. Making small investments for future prosperity is awesome. Credit cards and debt, however, are not.
